Hi BSBS
Yes you are correct the Sports boats and Cruisers will start around the high tide, only the dinghy starts go from morning to afternoon. Our next meeting is in May when we hope to get the programme finished.

I along with others are very glad that your skill on the organisation of Pyfleet is better than your photo skills.
Thanks.

Could the SB3 fleet be given the BOD courses. We would really only like to do the winwward - leeward bit a couple of times. Perhaps we could have a chat about it.
Thanks.

Hi, Visitor here from Marconi.
What is the PY split for slow and fast Handicap. Any advice regarding camping etc.

Not sure what boat I'll be bringing but might be up for crewing if anyone is crewless.
Cheers

Hi Richard,

Fast/slow split is usually at around 1000. Handicaps will be BSC's own modified ratings.

Campsite is 100 yards from the club - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=brightlingsea&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=17.04698,37.96875&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Brightlingsea,+Colchester,+United+Kingdom&ll=51.807517,1.020575&spn=0.002173,0.004635&t=h&z=18 shows the campsite at the top of the picture and the sailing club at the bottom.

Lakeside Caravan Park Promenade Way, Brightlingsea.
Tel: 01206 303421 (site) or 01206 307576 (home)

Hopefully someone else can give you a better answer re. handicap fleets.

Hi Richard
The split will be around the 1000 however as the same as last year we will be overlapping the handicaps making it possible to choose fast or slow, as soon as Dave is back from the B14 Worlds I will get this confirmed.

This is from last year and I am sure will be the same this year.
: All boats faster than 1000 sail in FAST handicap
: All boats slower than 1050 sail in SLOW handicap
: Boats 1000 to 1050 are recommended for X, but can choose which handicap they sail in.

Last year, with that split, the slow handicap was busier than the fast handicap.
I know every year it differs, but might there be a case of upping the split slightly? Say 1050 / 1100.

(Not that it affects me this year - just trying to balance the number of boats on the start lines).

Sorry, Richard: that we haven't been able to give a definite number - but that is the way Brightlingsea works: everything is very friendly until Craig makes the decision: and if we dont like it we throw him in the mud :-)
What boats might you want to bring? And we can advise you on the likely numbers and competition.

Chris I will pass this on to Dave who makes the decision (you can then throw him in the mud!). Although on the PW committee my role as a Vice Comm has ended.

Thanks guys.

Probably bringing the 700 (still learning though but got 2 weeks to do that!) but might be up for crewing for someone.

I have been to Brighlingsea with the Lasers, I also visit the area every so often.

Richard,

I've a friend of mine who is coming to do Pyefleet week in his Fireball. His name is Rhys Lankester who is a good Fireball sailor. He went to the world championships in Barbados in April this year and came in the top third, he helms and is looking for a crew to sail the week with – if you fancy a fun week then give him a call on 07919333690, Can you please let me know if you are interested, as he asked me to see if I could find him someone to sail with for the week.

I'd be very suprised if it were full, unless there's some sort of caravanning/camping club visit that week.

Richard,

Rhys will be pleased that you are interested in sailing the week with him. He is also camping for the week, so if you give him a call I’m sure he will be able to give you details on who to phone and the phone number of the camp site that works.
