Eddie Bridle and James King took the title at Grafham Water today.

With a job strop breaking on the start line of the 5th race, Eddie and James were relieved to see racing abandoned in winds gusting up to 41knts.

Of the 5 races held, Eddie and James results were 1-1-2-3-(DNF) giving an overall 7 point total in a fairly small 11 boat fleet but against strong competition from past and present national Youth squad members and long term Spitfire aficionados.

Eddie has now clocked 5 national championships, and James 2 – the drive home with elder bro Ollie was amusing 🙂

Very well done boys. The results on the Grafham website are a bit different – how come? http://www.grafham.org/wp-content/uploads/_results/Open%20Meetings/2014/Catamaran-Open-Fast-Handicap-2014.htm

Spitfire 053 was using a development sail that is not class legal so was not eligible for the Inland Nationals (we let them into the open results because they had a keen lad onboard) – results of which have not been posted so I need to locate and post separately (or ask Grafham to sort) … There was also the minor issue that 106 beat 053 by nearly a lap in the 2nd race … But we all make mistakes !

It’s a shame the Y&Y report didn’t include that important detail: http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/179837/Spitfires-at-the-Grafham-Cat-Open
