We still have some un-filled slots in Dutyman we urgently help with as follows: Sunday 21st May  (11.00 start): OOD  Monday 29th May (14.00 start) Patrol 1 Crew Patrol 2 Helm Patrol 2 Crew 14:00  Please also note that this weekend’s May Mugs on 20 and 21 May will start at 11am. A Reminder - PLEASE remember to Sign On but most importantly also Sign Off There have been some instances recently were people have not signed off and the OOD has had to check the dinghy park, changing rooms and even contact friends/family to make sure the sailor is safely ashore.  This is all about keeping everyone safe and it just might save your life one day so please remember to Sign ON and OF.
Having reviewed the forecast for this evening it has unfortunately been necessary to cancel Development Sailing as we are expecting thunder storms and possible strong winds during the period we would be afloat. Our next Development Session is on Wednesday 31 May, and don't forget we also have the first Family Fun Friday and Women On Water session coming up this Friday 19 May when we hope conditions will be better.
The forecast looks good, high tide is 18.42 and we are all set for the first ever Family Fun Friday and Women On Water event so come on down and join us this Friday 19 May! The rescue/coach boat will be on the water between 18.00 and 20.00 so get down to the club, get your boats/paddle boards/kayaks/rowing dinghies on the water and join in the fun. Craig Bond will be available to offer coaching advice for anyone who would like a bit of extra help. For those who don't want to go afloat there will be sundowners from the bar from 7pm and Ian and Tina will be firing up the Beach BBQ so there's no need to miss out. We want to encourage the girls to get involved too with a relaxed opportunity to get afloat without the pressure of racing (or being shouted at by the old man!).  The week Fiona Brown will be out in her BOD Grethe so if you haven't done much sailing and fancy joining her just come down to the beach and get a lift out in the RIB for a gentle trip around the bay. If you are already an experienced lady sailor please bring your own boat and join in the fun and perhaps you could even help us introduce some of your girlfriends to sailing too. The club boats will be available to use for those with experience.  To book a boat please use the Club Boat Booking Form. Forthcoming Friday Family Fun and Women On Water dates are: 2 June 16 June 30 June 14 July 28 July
Please note that the May Mugs club races on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 May will both start at 11am from the club line.  There is a Tera Train and Race event also going on that weekend but this will not affect club racing.
We've a host of fun activities for all the family over Brightlingsea Regatta Weekend on 27 and 28 May 2017, including the best view in town of the spectacular Saturday night fireworks.  Check out what's on offer in our poster below.
Summer is on the way folks and we have great plans to take advantage of our incredibly beautiful location and stunning sunsets. Please join us for some relaxed Family Fun Friday and Women on Water evenings on those Friday nights where the tide is in. Craig Bond will be out on the water with the rescue boat and offering coaching advice to anyone who requests it from 6pm to 8pm. We've got special opportunities for any of our lovely ladies who perhaps don't normally sail, but fancy just getting out on the water with the girls. And there will be fun galore for everyone on the beach. The bar will be open and if the weather's good we'll be firing up the BBQ, or if its a bit too wet to BBQ we'll organise fish and chips in the club instead. Check out the dates and details in our poster below and come along and join the fun.  For more information contact Fiona Brown on commodore@sailbrightlinsea.com
Don't forget that we have a special Champagne Pursuit Race this Thursday 4 May (Prize Giving in the bar after racing) and that the 2017 Thursday Night Series gets underway next Thursday 11 May, all starting from 7pm. Once again the fabulous Barry Newman and Roger Robertson will be officiating in the start hut and we're looking forward to some great evening racing. Please remember to collect a copy of the 2017 Pursuit Race start times from the hut as some handicaps have changed this year.
Calling all Cadets and youngsters age 10 and over!  This Tuesday 2nd May we have registration for this year's Tuesday night Cadet Sailing sessions. To sign up for this year's sessions please come to registration this Tuesday 2 May at 18.o0 at the Sailing Club.
