Just a gentle reminder to everyone who uses the VHFs when on rescue boat and race officer duty that Channel M2 is a public channel used by lots of other individuals and organisations.  It is therefore important to keep your communications short, to the point and not to indulge in informal chatter. We have had a few entertaining episodes recently, and whilst they are quite funny for us at BSC, they aren't so funny for the other people listening and working on this channel in the rest of the Colne and Blackwater area. Our communications can be heard as far away as Clacton and Maldon and all the way up the Colne. One of our fellow local sailing clubs has been in touch to say that they do appreciate that BSC is clearly a great training ground for stand up comedians, but please would we consider using our internal club PA for their warm ups and not Channel M2!
As in previous years the club car park will be closed on Regatta Sunday on 24 July to allow for the set up of the stalls and activities so members are reminded that all cars must be removed from the carpark by Saturday evening. For that Sunday day only please would everyone local come down on foot or by bike (bikes can be parked behind the club) and for those who have to drive please either bring some change so you can park in the pay and display car park or park on the roads near the club. Thank you for your assistance with this.
Please be aware that a motor fishing vessel was sunk in the River Colne just to the east of No 13 buoy in the early hours of Friday 8 July. The wreck, which is only partially visible at low tide, has been clearly marked by Trinity House with yellow hazard markers so please take great care when sailing in this area to avoid the obstruction. 13612214_10209000086232024_840803580849320673_n
