Laying Up Supper Tickets Now On Sale

Your House & Entertainments Committee have been beavering away behind the scenes and have come up with terrific plans for this year's Laying Up Supper which takes place on Saturday 27 October. After the huge success of last year's event they are pushing the boat out and to celebrate the end of our 130th Anniversary year the event will be entitled the Autumn Gold Laying Up Supper 2018 and will have a sumptuous black and gold decor theme. Dress will be black tie, but please note that there are no fashion police, so if you don't own a dinner suit please don't panic or be put off, simply wear a bow tie with your favourite smart jacket or perhaps a smoking jacket and cravat! ;-) For the ladies evening or cocktail dresses will be the order of the day.
All members (not just prize winners or racers) are welcome to join us for this wonderful evening of celebration as we mark not only a great racing season, but also an amazing summer of fun for all.
On arrival there will be a delicious sparkling cocktail to get things off to a fizzing start. For our three course dinner the Committee has selected the highly regarded Lexden Crown outside catering team, who are well known to many members and come with an outstanding reputation. The menu is below and aims to offer something for everyone (special dietary needs will of course be catered for so just let us have details of these when booking).
During dinner we will have a professional caricaturist visiting the tables to draw caricatures of some of our guests. These can be individuals, couples or crews so if you would like a drawing do give some thought to any groupings.
After dinner Bernie Hetherington, Commodore of Wivenhoe Sailing Club, our guest of honour and a wonderful raconteur with a very long connection with BSC, will be our after dinner speaker, after which the Prize-Giving will of course be the highlight of the evening. Finally we will have dancing until late.
You can purchase individual tickets or tables are available for 10 or 12 people (note 12 is fairly cosy) at a cost of £30 per person to include the welcome drink and three course meal. An optional additional Cheese Course is also offered and the Cheese Course inclusive ticket cost £33.50.
Booking tickets is a two part process. You need to reserve your tickets and give us your menu selections and then you need to pay.
