Overview

Run by the members for the members is our unofficial club motto and we are very proud that our club is entirely run and managed by the members. The only staff the club employs are our cleaners and our some bar staff, although the bar is still managed by volunteers. There is a great "can do" attitude at the club and each and every member contributes in which ever way they can. Our duty roster covers our main organised activities such as Race Officers, Patrol Boat teams, Galley Duties, etc, but even if taking part in one of these roles isn't possible for you there will be ways you can help.

For the most part we run the duty system on an honour basis, trusting that every member will undertake at least half a dozen official duties during the year. The only exception to this is for our racing sailors, who are required to undertake a minimum of four club racing related duties each year as well as other duties for open meetings, social events, etc.

Our new duty roster enables you to volunteer for galley duties, duties related to our Cadet Tuesdays, social events, open meetings, etc, as well as for club racing roles so we would ask that every member ensures they volunteer for some duties right away.

To volunteer simply click Log In at the top right of this page and enter your email address and the password which has been emailed to you. Once logged in you will see the Duty Roster as the first item on the portal menu to the right of the page. Click on this to view a list of all club duties and simply volunteer for the duties you can help with. Once you have volunteered you will be able to click the My Duties link to see the list of duties you are undertaking (together with information about who you will be volunteering with). If you realise you can no longer undertake a duty it is your responsibility to arrange a swop and you can click the Duty Swops button to see who else is looking to swop.

The system will send you regular reminders that your duty is coming up. Just remember that if you change your email address you will need to log into the system and update your contact details by clicking on the My Profile button to keep the reminders coming.

If you have any queries about the duty system please contact the Duties Team on dutyman@sailbrightlingsea.com
