Happy New Year and welcome to 2022 at Brightlingsea Sailing Club!
On 1 January members will have received their membership and boat parking renewal requests (if you did not please first check your spam folder in case it was placed there, and if you still haven't received it please contact Membership Secretary Kathy Ashworth on subssecretary@sailbrightlingsea.com). Please note that this year we have greater pressure on boat parking spaces than ever before so please ensure you renew your membership and confirm your boat park spaces by the official deadline of 31 January to secure your slots. Spaces not confirmed and paid for by 31 January may be allocated to others on the waiting list.
The 2022 Sailing Calendar is now online and if you haven't already done so do please log into the Portal and put yourself down for your volunteer duties. Our active racing members are all required to undertake a minimum of 4 racing related duties each year. Other members who are physically able to are are required to undertake a minimum of 2 duties each year, either afloat or ashore.
The club will close after the ILCA Laser Training weekend on 15 and 16 January, reopening for the weekend of 26 and 27 March when we are provisionally looking forward to welcoming the Eastern Optimist Fleet for a Training Weekend and will definitely be running our first club race of the season, The Ralph Sutton Handicap and Len Cook Tankard (for the first placed cadet), starting at 11.00.
Prior to the reopening we will have our usual three working parties to prepare the boat park, club house and facilities and this year these will take place on 5, 12 and 20 March, starting at 11am each day.
If you still have a boat in the front boat park please urgently remove it. Winter storage in the back boat park can be booked through Kathy Ashworth on subssecretary@sailbrightlingsea.com if required. Please ensure that if your boat is staying for winter storage that your cover is really well secured and your boat is properly tied down to survive the winter storms.
