Entry Open for Alternative Pyefleet Activities
Published 19:52 on 23 Jul 2020
We are delighted to be able to announce that the schedule for the on-water activities taking place instead of Pyefleet Week has been confirmed and that sailing will take place from Wednesday 5 to Saturday 8 August with Sunday 9 August as a reserve day in case of bad weather.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
Supported Sailing
The Supported Sailing sessions will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. Cadet Captain Craig Bond will lead the team providing support boat cover and any members confident to rig and sail their own boats are invited to join in. The support boats will aim to cover the area within sight of the club, but please check for any updates on this prior to launching as changes in the forecast may mean the sailing area has to be revised. Participants are asked not to sail upriver of the line between the downriver end of the marina wharf and the downriver end of the Heritage and Fisherman's pontoons (the most downriver of the pontoons).
Summer Holiday Club Racing Series
We have four days of racing on offer. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday will feature Class Races and on Friday we will have a Pursuit Race. The Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions for the Summer Holiday Club Racing Series are below. Entry is open to club members and is free of charge but please enter in advance online by clicking here (note you will need to be logged into the member's portal to enter).
2020 Summer Challenge
For those members who do not wish to come to the club during busier periods we are also running the 2020 Summer Challenge - a time trial race in which you are invited to complete a set course at a time of day to suit yourself (excluding the race time window), record your elapsed time and submit it by email for scoring. Again entry is open to club members and is free of charge and details of how to enter by email are given in the 2020 Summer Challenge Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions below.
Ashore
Unfortunately it will not be possible for the clubhouse to be open or for the changing rooms to be used, but the disabled toilet will be available via the outside back door (strictly no changing though please) and the Beachbox Cafe will be open each day offering a range of hot and cold soft drinks and delicious snacks.
