Further to our earlier post regarding the sad news of the death of Senior Member Sallie Fisher, we have been asked to let you know that Sallie's funeral will take place on Friday 14thDecember at 11.45am at Weeley Crematorium.
Sallie was a member of Brightlingsea Sailing Club and the Colne Yacht Club for over 60 years. She joined the sailing community in the late 1950s when she used to sail with her husband Bob in a Hornet, which was no mean feat for a non-swimmer. Family holidays were spent travelling around the country to open meetings and championships.
She was keen for her two daughters Carolyne and Alice to be part of the Sailing Club where they learned to sail. Sallie supported the club over many years in the galley when the club was on its old site at Fieldgate Dock and then from 1963 when the club moved to its present site.
In the more latter years she still continued to have an avid interest in the club racing and cadet activities, spectating from her home in Fieldgate Dock and passing comment on people's tactics and foibles especially those of her family.
Sallie always kept a close eye on the club when no one was around and always gave a cheery wave to members when they were passing by her home. The Club was dear to her heart and she always gave very generously towards club fundraising.
Our thoughts and prayers go to Carolyne, Alice and their families at this sad time.
