Winter Social Programme

Published 03:35 on 25 Jan 2018

Whilst we might not be sailing again until March 25th, we have a great programme of winter events coming up over the next couple of months.

First up is Nigel & Jackie's Winter Quiz on Friday 2nd February which is open to teams of up to 6 people (cadet teams welcome too). Entry will cost £2 per person (payable on the night) to include bar snacks and things will get underway from 7pm. The evening will also act as a fundraiser for our new Start Hut, further details of which will be announced on the evening.

On Tuesday 6th February all members are invited to join Brightlingsea & District Rotary Club for an open evening they are hosting at BSC. Our local Rotary club work tirelessly to support the community and are seeking new members and volunteers for events such as the Jog Walk Run in September, the Santa Sleigh Runs through December, their Teddy Bears' Picnic which this year will be run in association with the Brightlingsea based Porridge & Pens Charity.

Ohh La La - Friday 23rd March is French Cheese & Wine Night! This event will start at 7.30pm and will feature a delicious selection of cheeses accompanied by some highly quaffable vinos. Further details about how to book tickets will be published shortly.

We kick off the Easter Weekend on Thursday 29th March with a VHF Radio Induction Session. Join us from 6.30pm for a user friendly introduction to the use of VHF Radios for club race management and patrol boat duties. From exactly how our different types of VHF work to why its actually incorrect to say "over and out", the session is aimed at ensuring all of us know the most effective and efficient way to communicate on the water. The training itself is free and there will be an optional club supper served mid evening at a cost of £5 per head.

Last year's inaugural Children's Easter Egg Hunt was so successful that it will return again this year starting at 11am on Sunday 1 April. Also on Sunday 2 April the galley team will be working their magic with the club's traditional Easter Lunch.

Please note that the AGM, which was due to take place on Easter Monday 2 April at 11am, and the Commodore's Reception which follows it will now take place on Monday 7 May from 11am.
