Regatta Weekend Ahead - Can You Help?

Published 20:07 on 17 May 2018

June 2 and 3 sees Brightlingsea in full on festive mode as we celebrate the 2018 Brightlingsea Regatta. As always there will be a host of fun activities on offer at the club and we will be open to the public throughout the weekend.

People to help put up two marquees at 6pm on Thursday 31 May (one is our new club marquee for the front of the club house and the other is to go in the car park for the new Regatta Arts & Crafts Tent)

Safety Boat helms and crews to support the St Helena Hospice Craft Your Raft Race which start from the beach at 2.30pm on Saturday 2 June and lasts for about 20 minutes. Please volunteer via the Duty page on the Members Portal or speak to Simon Redfearn or email dutyman@sailbrightlingsea.com if you can help.

Club Boat helms to assist with Try Sailing between Noon and 4.30pm on Saturday 2 June. Please volunteer via the Duty page on the Members Portal or speak to Simon Redfearn or or email dutyman@sailbrightlingsea.com if you can help.

Cake Bakers to help with the Great BSC Bake Off and Bake Sale to raise funds for the new Start Hut. What ever your baking speciality we need your cakes - cup cakes, tray bakes, fruit cakes, sponges, meringues or fairy cakes. All goodies to be delivered to the club by 10.30am on Sunday morning 3 June. Sale starts at 11am Sunday morning.

We also still need more help in the galley. We have one slot that needs filling on Saturday from 1m until 3pm and then slots on Sunday from 9am-11am, 11am to 1pm, 1pm to 3pm and 3pm to 5pm. Please fill in the rota on the galley counter in the club or email commodore@sailbrightlingsea.com if you can help with any of these.

Finally we need about 10 people to help us with a bucket collection during the Fireworks on Saturday evening. You will need to report to the club around 8.30pm to collect your collecting bucket and then collect money along the prom between the club and the swimming pool until the fireworks finish around 9.45pm. Cadets can assist with this but they must be accompanied by an adult. Again speak to Fiona or email commodore@sailbrightlingsea.com if you can help.
